Uploading files/images
Archi/Rick,
Is it possible to modify this forum to allow direct upload of files/images....going to an off-forum site is just soooo....clumsy.
Cheers

Re: Uploading files/images
Alan That is in the Future plans, but right now there are several Technical and Monetary issues to be worked out! The problem I have already faced is in our Starter forum A user Caught a virus, and the Forum Downloads were the first target of blame, so I'm looking at several different Server side Virus packages, plus looking at ways to defray the cost of File hosting. But for now Please bear with me and we'll have to store files offsite, and link to them in posts! I'm putting together a FAQ on the meny free file hosting services, and how to link to files hosted there

Alan I can't really Divulge who Got it, but needless to say I spent several hours Downloading everything from the old board I could find and I didn't get a beep from Mcaffe or Avast I just think it was something caught elsewhere and Panic lead to the thinking they had caught on the forum!

Re: Uploading files/images
It was me that picked up the virus, i quarentined it then deleted it from my computer. went back to the forum and it showed up again.
Not for certain that it was that it from the old forum, but it was possible.
Hopefully Rickard will have a descent virus scan program integrated in the forum that will scan uploads.
Since then i have reformatted my hard drive, started fresh again, so no need to worry about me passing viruses to the forum.

Re: Uploading files/images
If your scanning for viruses, be sure to do an indepth scan.
Viruses can start from opening an Avatar, Picture, document, Pdf's, freeware, ads and so on.
Once activated, they get copied to more critical files like , .sys, .dll, and boot up files and to your registry just to say a few.
So its very important to keep your virus program updated with the latest definitions and do a thorough sweep on a regular basis.

Thats why I came on and cleared the air, I'm not Panicking or throwing bombs at anyone.
Just trying to get everyone to think about being safe, because it affects us all on this forum.
Rickard, its good that your putting in safety measures now, this forum kicks A S S and we don't need that crap in here.
