Re: My Mexican trip......a diary.....
I'm back.....we only got lost twice. Ended up in some strange towns. Saw my first ruins.....woohoo.
All the piccies will be uploaded to Photobucket as soon as Alex get's back to work on Friday. Unfortunately we lost the battery recharger in the move......and haven't found it yet. So piccies of the new house are dependant on that.....will post them as soon as we get them.
P.S......'C' loves the new laptop I gave her for Xmas...I'm typing away on it at the moment.....but I did ask her permission first.
Happy new year everyone...gotta go outside and watch the fireworks.....be back soon......

Ok Alan the dance, ok. The photographs though slightly out of composition, and out of range coming from a semi pro photographer ok. But please next time you're in Mexico or on a beach? get some Mossimo shorts! or some clam diggers!! I loved the history of your trip. And its odd. Every photograph that has Alan in them he seems to be somewhat inebriated!!! D A M N you for all the fun you're having in Mexico!!!

Hahaha.
Ok, Alan did dance, I took the piccies in Acapulco, almost all of them, and in Alan's defense I can say that he didn't drink anything there, in fact he refused to drink alcohol the only thing he drank was soda, that's probably what affected him.
Hehehehe.

Re: My Mexican trip......a diary.....
Not true....I had the obligatory beer on the beach in Acapulco......they actually gave me two (for the price of one)....in a bucket filled with ice.
I didn't know about the second one, or see it, until we were leaving. How very un-Australian of me.......

Re: My Mexican trip......a diary.....
Claudia and I went off on a coach to Mexico City on Monday night....arrived in Mexico City at 4:30am. Sleeping on a coach is just as hard as sleeping on a plane.....I just don't seem to be able to do it.
First thing we did Tuesday morning was head for the ruins of Teotihuacan....the biggest ruins in the Americas. We spent about 3 hours there. And we climbed to the top of the Temple of the Sun...the highest pyramid in the Americas. It was bloody hard climbing, and I couldn't figure out why I was sooo out of condition. Then Claudia told me the reason we were having trouble was because of the high altitude of Mexico City (not a lot of oxygen about....plus all the smog).
Wednesday we went for a look "down town". Mexican's don't call it the CBD (central busines district).....they call it "down town", always "down town".
After a bit of a look around, we went to have a look at the canals in Xochimilco. That was interesting...all the Mariachi bands on punts playing to all the tourists on other punts. And all the Mexicans trying to sell the tourists any and everything. I got caught.....Claudia fell in love with a pair of silver (not real silver) ear-rings of the Aztec Calendar. So I had to buy them for her.
Wednesday back on a coach for the trip to Morellia.....arrived here at 3:30am....and it was FREEZING cold.
This morning we went for a look around "down town" Morellia, and took a tourist bus to check out more of the city. This afternoon we're going to the zoo.....
A lot of Alex's and Claudia's families live here. I'm typing away on C's niece's computer at the moment.
We should arrive back home at Lazaro Cardenas about midnight tonight. Dunno if I'll get a chance to get back here before I head back to Australia on Monday....but if I don't, I'll write a full story on this holiday when I'm back home (my aussie home).
Just HAVE to say this.......Having my own guide/translator by my side 24/7 (and someone as beautiful as Claudia) has been absolutely wonderfull. Claudia has been a terrific friend, always looking after me no matter what. And she has a wonderfull sense of humour, even to being as big a deviate as we aussies are.....probably worse. Travelling with her has been a ton of fun.

Re: My Mexican trip......a diary.....
Everybody:
Alan's plane took off today at 9.10 am, we took care of him while he was here and as I predicted he didn't want to leave Mexico.
He had a lot of fun and he fell in love with my country.
He'll be arriving to Australia sometime next wednesday night - thursday morning.

Re: My Mexican trip......a diary.....
Hehehe, well, in Alan's words "this was his lifetime trip" and we achieved our objective which was to make him feel comfortable and to have a lot of fun.
I would have liked to spend more time with them but I couldn't because of the last and new job situations.
Anyway we had some great parties and spent a great weekend in Acapulco.
So now let's hope he gets to his Aussie home safe.

Re: My Mexican trip......a diary.....
Just sitting in the terminal at Hong Kong International Airport at the moment......We landed here from LA at 5:00am, I got the train into Hong Kong, but it was SOOOOO bloody cold I was back at the airport at 9:00am.Been here all day, found a corner of the terminal with a heap of seats....it's where everyone lies down on the seats to get some ZZZ's....that's what I've been doing all day....sleeping. Then I found these internet terminals, so I thought I'd better say something.
I'll be home sometime tomorrow....have no idea what time......friggin' time zone changes.
They didn't stamp my passport when I entered Mexico.....so they nearly weren't going to let me out of the country. Weeeeelllllll......I didn't have a problem with that......they must have realised I was happy to stay in Mexico......so they quickly solved the problem for a fee of $1100 (Mex pesos).......and I thought they liked me in Mexico, they were pretty keen to kick me out.......
anyway.....more on things when I get home tomorrow.......
Cheers all

Re: My Mexican trip......a diary.....
I'm back home now (as of 2 hours ago)...finally. First thing I did was drive down to the pub and get a couple of bottles of Bundy (Ted for you plebs).
4 bloody days of travelling on aircrafts, and hanging around airport terminals for up to 12 hours each time. Only managed one shower and change of clothes in LA the whole trip....boy do I stink now. I better be careful or people will start calling me a pommie.........
I have soooo much to sort out about the trip.....but at least I have the whole weekend to do it. Plus I have to write the final installment of the trip.
Question #1....how long does it take to de-Mexicanise yourself?
hehehe...I got home and had to ask the taxi driver what day it was....I really had no idea. When he said it was Friday......well I just went RUM, RUM, for my poor little jet-lagged TUMM.
Anyway....things will be back to normal by tomorrow....maybe....hopefully......s h i t I already miss Mehico.
